Code Indexed Printing System

The IPS 2000 CIPS integrates barcode, magnetic stripe and OCR technologies to read a code or personalized reference information from a product, search a data-base for the corresponding variable information and then print that information on the product with an inkjet printer. The control system can interface with a variety of inkjet printers from different manufacturers. The CIPS can also be configured to operate as a personalization system. In this configuration, the input data can be sourced from a magnetic tape or optical disk and the associated information printed by an inkjet printer and/or magnetic stripe encoder.

The CIPS is a dynamic system that can configured to suit a wide range of applications and production requirements. Should the standard features not meet the specific requirements of the application, the system, as an option, can be customized to meet the most demanding production needs.

Applications

  • Addressing of newspaper, magazines or catalogs according to existing address within the product (bills, reply postcard, etc.).

  • Outside addressing of windowless envelopes in the envelope inserter.

  • Additional addressing of 3D-products for direct mailings.

  • Credit and prepaid telephone card production

Production lines

  • Sheet and web fed production lines

  • Envelope inserters

  • Bindery lines

System

  • The CIPS control system runs on a standard IBM compatible PC with a real time, multi-tasking operating system in conjunction programmable logic controller and system software.

  • Data can be read randomly (from database via reading device) or sequentially (from magnetic tape, floppy disk or optical disk).

  • Production throughput: 10 products per second - input device dependent.

  • Single inkjet printer capability

  • Tracking distance of up to 99 products between reference product detection and the product to be imaged.

  • 1 production line stop control signal

  • System status monitoring and control of inkjet printer operation to minimize production waste.

  • Product detect photo cell and rotary encoder

  • Standard length cables for controller connection to production line

Options

  • Magnetic tape drive

  • Removable hard disk

  • Inkjet printer interfaces; Domino, Scitex and Videojet

  • Magnetic stripe encoder and decoder interfaces

  • Barcode scanner

  • Customization for specific application requirements.
