Product Verification System

The Product Verification System (PVS)

The Product Verification System, PVS, was designed to constantly monitor and compare a container’s bar code label to an identification module affixed to a part’s quality control gage.  When a mismatch occurs, the state of a relay output will change to signal a fault condition.

Features:

  • Designed to yield a fail safe 100% quality assurance level.

  • Compact and rugged industrial design.

  • Modular design or easy setup and production changes.

  • Operator designed setup for fast production changes.

  • PDA Operator interface for system test and programming via a standard hand held device (PDA).

  • Production tested to insure reliability, maximize ease of use and minimize operator error.

Benefits:

  • 100% verification that the product produced is loaded into the correct container.

  • Real-time alert (light stack, audible or line stop) when a mismatch or other error occurs.

  • Operator error is virtually eliminated.

  • Maintenance free design

  • Compact size enables easy retrofit and line integration on most  production line equipment

  • Cost effective stand-alone system when compared to other off the shelf solutions.

General mechanical specs:

  • Control Module.  (L 3.0" x W 2.0" x H 1.5")

  • Product reference gage Identification Module. (L 1.75" x W 1.25" x H 0.9")

  • Product container bar code label scanner (AIG Standard Automotive).  (L 2.25"x W 2.25 x H 1.25")

  • Good / Bad output contact closure (normally open).

  • 110 VAC power supply

General functional specs:

  • The Control Module will handle the communications between the Identification Module and the barcode scanner.  There will be one module per product.

  • The Identification Module will contain the unique identification barcode (alpha / numeric equivalent) for the reference gage.  There will be one module per gage.

  • Once the Identification Module code and the bar match, the Control Module will continuously (60 second interval) compare the Identification Module code to the appropriate bar code on the label affixed to the product container.

  • Should the container label and the reference gage not match or the bar code becomes unreadable or any other error occurs with the system, the contact closure state will be changed to signal a “Bad” condition.

Control Module (CM) description:

The Control Module will handle the entire process control and programming of the Identification Module. The module requires no setup or configuration other than its physical connections to the system components.  The module is a self contained unit packaged in a heavy duty housing containing:

  • The control system components and matching logic and monitoring software.

  • Power source connector.

  • Bar code scanner connector supplying power and communications.

  • Identification Module connector supplying power and communications.

  • Identification Module programming connector to enable programming of the module via a handheld device (PDA).

  • Contact closure connector.

Identification Module (IM) description:

The Identification Module is the absolute reference to the product bar code.  The module can be programmed only one time to provide the maximum quality assurance.  The programming will be handled via the Control Module with the alpha / numeric equivalent of the bar code to be matched on the product container.  The module is a small self contained unit packaged in a plastic housing containing:

  • One-time programmable (OTP) identification device.

  • Connector to the Control Module for power and communications source.
